They really are fond of ICT, the exhibition we had at UNIC was attended by 1000 visitors

Do you allow me to interview you?

10:10 Hery : nan chui pas un communicateur fa technicien b tena ts vitako zany k simmple fa andraso jereko ny ararako manokana no amaliako

I’m not this good at communication, I’m only a techinician but if you ask simple question I’ll do my best

10:16 Joan : vao maika milay

don’t worry

10:18 Hery: ok alefaso ny question ary

Go

10:21 Joan : Quel est le role du CINU?

What is CINU?

10:22 Hery : le CINU le centre d’Information des Nations Unies: mampta ny vaovao rehetra mikasika ny activité ny NU eto Madagasikara sy ny avy any Ivelany

CINU is the UN Information Center, it’s where you find informations about UN activities in Madagascar and in the world.

10:23 Joan : Quelles sont les activités du CINU?

What are CINU’s activities?

We host meetings, exhibition, debates, formation. We also have a library and organize forums for youth so they can participate at the International ones at UN. Mostly we have schools and journalists.

What do you like the most in your work?

To meet young people, the trips in the regions and field activities. And of course working for my country.

10:28 Joan: qui frequente le CINU?

Who are UNIC users?

It’s everybody since it’s a library, you can find lots of informations on UN projects and we mostly see young people.

10:32 Joan: a ton avis pkoi les jeunes aiment les TIC?

Why do you think teens love TIC?

I think they are fond of TIC because it’s a big part of their lives. They use cellphones, computers and are always interested in the latest gagdet.

What do you think we can do to make them come to our FBC? What would be the best reason for them to blog?

They want to show their activities, what they do at school, for UN youth projects and their hobbies. They can’t afford a website and a blog is the perfect format. There are text and images at the same time.

10:39 Joan : (c koi CPO?) lol

What does CPO mean?

10:40 Hery : Club Pour l’ONU

Club for UN

10:43 Joan : Merci mille fois Hery ataoko bogozy be ity interview ity, un dernier mot?

(eng) Introducing Toamasina

fbc_tamaga.png

Toamasina (or Tamatave in french) is Madagascar 2nd city and with the presence of the main regional seaport has a growing potential for economical activities. Located on the eastern coast, the capital of the Atsinana has its own culture named after one of the country’s 18 tribes, the Betsimisaraka. Toamasina, in Malagasy, is tighly connected to its environment. Atsinana Rainforest voted on the list of UNESCO World Heritage starts from Masoala and ends in Ranomafana region (where FOKO is currently working). This corridor is under the watch because of multiple problems of deforestation (by the use of slash-and-burn) . Due to geography, each town and village located on the eastern coast are the first victims of seasonal cyclonic disasters as it was sadly proven earlier this week.

Our interest in bringing the Foko Blog Club to Toamasina resides in bringing more attention to a very dynamic region where the youth and the communities are highly skilled and have many stories to share with the world. Our Toamasina group will be of course driving attention to environmental echues that are not commonly talked about on the web or even on the ground. With their charming accent is different, their wonderful seafront and kindness, this group will very quickly surprise us!
